Carlos Montoya

Carlos is founding partner and Chairman of Latin Pacific Capital. He has led a number of advisories relating principally to PPPs carried out by LPC in Peru as well as in other Latin American countries including Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. His experience includes several key sectors—power, telecommunications, gas, infrastructure, agribusiness, industry and real estate, among others, in more than one hundred transactions mobilizing over US$15 billion.

He was the first Executive Director of COPRI (now ProInversion), the Peruvian privatization and concessions agency, where he was responsible for the design and implementation of the country’s successful privatization program, having sold about one hundred State-owned corporations. Previously, he was consultant to the World Bank and the Interamerican Development Bank, Chairman & CEO of Probayovar (world class phosphate mine) and Senior Investment Officer in the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – World Bank group.

Carlos holds a PhD in Finance, MBA and MA in Economics all from Stanford University (California, USA) and a Magister in Administration from ESAN (Lima, Peru), as well as a BS in Agronomy from Universidad Nacional Agraria (Lima, Peru).

 

Emilio Zúñiga

Emilio is a founding partner of Latin Pacific Capital and Vice Chairman. His experience of more than 25 years in advisories to governments and private companies and investors, includes mining, oil & gas, infrastructure and industry, in various types of transactions—PPPs, privatizations, mergers and acquisitions, search for strategic partners and negotiation of investment opportunities.

He was Chairman of Petroperu and Hierro Peru, and also chaired the Special Committees for the privatization of both companies. He has been President of the Transition Committee for the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, member of the investment committee of a real estate fund, and consultant to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru as well as for several private companies.

Emilio holds a MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University (Cambridge, United Kingdom) and a MSc in Mining Economics from Stanford University (California, USA). He graduated as Mining Engineer in Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Lima, Peru).

 

David Shiguiyama

David is Managing Director of Latin Pacific Capital. He has over twenty four years of experience in structuring of concessions, valuation of companies and investment projects, promotion among potential investors, negotiation of concession contracts and closing of transactions. He has led numerous advisories in the granting of concessions, public-private associations, privatizations, and capital raising in the telecommunications, agribusiness, transportation, electricity and hydrocarbons sectors, for an aggregate of more than US$ 7 billion.

Previously, David was Director of COPRI (now ProInversion), where he was responsible for supervising the privatization processes in telecommunications and electricity. In addition, he was member of the team which designed and implemented the “Citizen’s Participation Program” in Peru, which placed shares of several large corporations to more than 400,000 individual investors in the Lima stock market.

David holds an MBA degree from Duke University (North Carolina, USA). He graduated as an Economist from Universidad del Pacifico (Lima, Peru).

 

Arnaldo León

Arnaldo is Director of the Mining Division of Latin Pacific Capital, directly involved in all the transactions of the company in the sector.  Previously, and for four years, he was mining specialist for the Interamerican Development Bank, in Washington DC. Arnaldo also worked in the mining division of the World Bank, as mining engineer and financial analyst.

Arnaldo started his professional career in 1965, in the former Cerro de Pasco Corporation in Peru; he worked in the San Cristobal, Yauricocha and Cerro de Pasco mines, as well as in La Oroya.  Later on, he was head of all planning and corporate development programs in Centromin. He was also engineering and project manager in SIMSA - San Ignacio de Morococha S.A., Peruvian zync producer.

Arnaldo holds an M.Sc. from Colorado School of Mines (USA) and graduated as Mining Engineer in Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (Lima, Peru).

Giancarlo Ortiz

Giancarlo is Corporate Finance Associate in Latin Pacific Capital. He supports LPC senior Team in the advisories to ProInversion for the structuring of energy and infrastructure projects.

He has worked in Petroperú S.A., in the Financial Valuation and Stock Market area. He was involved in the valuation and support of the syndicated loan operation for the initial financing of the Talara Refinery project. He participated in the analysis of a planned IPO of Petroperu’s shares in the Lima Stock Market (BVL), and also helped in the valuation of new projects and their effect over the corporate flows of the company. Previously he worked in the Economic Department of the Peruvian Embassy in Washington D.C., helping in the analysis of commercial results, preparing relevant reports for the directors of the embassy and of other Peruvian Government agencies, and participated in work meetings with the diplomatic personnel of the Embassy and international and US Government agencies.

Giancarlo has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad del Pacifico (Lima-Peru).
