Telecommunications

People are increasingly connected and the networks providing connections are a basic part of our lives.  Within this development, cellular networks and users of the service have grown exponentially in this century.  Intelligent cellphones are now common, and the number of connections is now huge.  The systems require spectrum, and bands at different frequencies are necessary.  Bandwith is very valuable and, depending on each country, is awarded either for a limited period or permanently; in either case a given bandwith-spectrum constitutes a physically limited resource, although improvements in technology through time usually allow the provision of increased services utilizing the same bandwith.

LPC has been involved in fifteen advisories in the telecommunications sector, carried out in Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Honduras.  Investments required to provide the services for which the spectrum was awarded have been estimated at over US$ 2.8 billion.
